Our company exists to promote and protect life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. We design, build, and support security and intelligence products. Our core expertise is in small, lightweight, low-cost radar systems for unmanned and manned aircraft, primarily in the military domain. We cover the entire life cycle, often beginning with defining a market where none exists, designing and building the product, training the customer on how to use the system, and supporting it in the field with field service technicians or an embedded analyst team within the unit we support.

We have some exciting opportunities and we are looking to grow our team by bringing on a Cost and Technical Proposal Writer. In addition to smarts, skills, and experience, we're after someone who is a healthy fit - someone who aligns with our company core values. These are our values, and they define how we behave and how you can succeed with our company:

  • All in - we're all in the same boat
    • We are all in together and we need people who work well on a team and really care about what we're doing.
  • Stand up - we stand accountable with integrity
    • We take responsibility for our actions and we need people who can make and keep commitments.
  • Can-do - innovate with a can-do attitude
    • We do things that matter, and we tackle hard problems that others are afraid to take on. We need creative and innovative people.

Regarding smarts, skills, and experience, we need someone who loves technical writing and can make a significant contribution to our proposal, media, and business development teams. You would be using spreadsheets to estimate costs; gathering and explaining backup documentation for those costs; drafting white papers, quotes, and proposals describing technical aspects of the company's radar systems; and drafting content for media products, presentations, and technical overview documents. To accomplish these tasks, you would be working directly with our VP of Sales, our business development and media teams, our engineering team, our Program Management team, and our finance and legal departments. These are some of the things that are important to us:

  • Your level of education is at least equivalent to a bachelor's degree.
  • You understand and can use, create, fix, and update spreadsheets, including spreadsheets with advanced formulas.
  • You write clearly, concisely, and quickly while following generally accepted grammar rules.
  • You understand and can apply technical and mathematical concepts and can clearly and concisely describe those concepts in writing.
  • You can quickly learn about technologies that are new to you by researching a variety of online and printed sources and by interviewing subject matter experts.
  • You can reduce complex engineering terminology, speech, and vernacular into clear and concise written documents.
  • You are capable of writing according to requirements established in solicitations, regulations, and style guides.
  • You accurately gauge customer needs and understanding and persuasively write in a tone and at a level that matches the audience.
  • You seek for and readily accept and apply feedback on written documents or spreadsheets from management, engineering, business development, or media.
  • You can teach and mentor others in good proposal writing principles and practices.
  • You are comfortable with and capable of interfacing with customers as needed.

We like to take care of our team members. Here's what you can expect from us:

  • We offer a competitive salary.
  • We place a high value on work-life balance.
  • We have a flexible schedule.
  • We have a generous profit-sharing bonus, a 401(k) match, and employer HSA contributions.
  • We offer PTO plus 11 holidays off throughout the year, including the week between Christmas and New Year's.
