Job Summary:

Our company specializes in small, high-performance Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) and Moving Target Indicator (MTI) systems for manned and unmanned aircraft. We boast the world's smallest, high-performance SAR. In addition to our SAR system, we develop our own antennas, electronic and mechanical gimbals, pod and mounting structures, communication links, ground station processing servers, and exploitation and dissemination software. The Director of Software Development requires experience leading a talented team while architecting, developing, and maintaining complex software systems. The software team is responsible for the embedded software running on the radar and other onboard processors, and also for the ground based exploitation and dissemination software. Additionally, the software team is working on an in-house MRP/ERP system. Our ideal candidate will have experience with enterprise grade code and general coding best practices and they will also have experience leading a team of other talented engineers in an agile framework. They will also be willing and able to contribute to the code base when needed.

Essential Functions:

  • Lead the software development team and provide technical leadership, mentoring and expertise
  • Communicate well with upper management, customer support, marketing, project managers, programmers, and others
  • Promote established standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the software development life cycle
  • Participate in all aspects of software development activities, including design, coding, code review, unit-testing, bug fixing, and operations
  • Own development for features of large, highly complex projects
  • Integrate company values in carrying out job responsibilities
  • Other duties as required

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Manage a team of 10+ embedded and application software developers

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science, or equivalent
  • 10+ years of work experience
  • 5+ years of leadership experience
  • Strong knowledge of C++/C
  • Experience using GIT, Jenkins, Jira, Confluence preferred
  • CSM preferred

  • Able to reapply known principles to new uses
  • Can solve problems related to software and hardware failures
  • Clean programming and commenting is essential

Essential Physical functions and Working Conditions:

Work performed in an office environment, with no exposure to inclement weather. Some light physical effort required. Able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds.   Regularly required to sit or stand, reach, bend and move about the facilities.   Minimal travel required.   Noise level in the work environment is low to moderate.
